課程概述 |
This course will consist in three components: (1) a review of some recent contributions to the "theory debate," bearing primarily on the place of theory in literary studies, (2) thematic units presented to further explore issues bearing on the nature and place of theory in literary studies, and (3) student proposed thematic units.

課程目標 |
The main objective of this course is to introduce students to the current state of speculative theory in literary studies. Emphasis will be placed on the divergence and possible cross-illumination between two very different approaches to "doing theory," that of the toolbox and that of system building. Students are encouraged to develop an ability to move between and perhaps beyond these approaches.
